Documenting a family trip to the Jumma 'at prayers at the Central Mosque, Abuja-Nigeria has been finally scratched off my bucket list. The Central Mosque is a place where people of all cultures, economic backgrounds and varied values come together as one.
My brothers, Bashir (@bashali_jr) & Abdulrauf (@ciromaa_shots), are adorned in their uniquely embroidered kaftans and caps. It was an abstract painting of vibrant colors and patterns, the mosque a backdrop to the community. Using my Canon 250d paired with the Canon 24mm f2.8 & the Canon 50mm f1.8 it was no easy job capturing them amongst the bustling crowd & under the hot Abuja sun. Almost missed my prayers actually haha!
It did take less effort to capture the beauty of the mosque though, the unique and intricate architecture of the long-standing mosque did most of the work. There was beauty in the uncaptured moments as well. Watching as my brothers counted their tasbih and sat beside strangers to perform ablution. Listening to the Imams’ khutbah sat among hundreds of faces I would never see again, a group of diversified people brought together by a shared faith.
